What This Blog Is About...

Very Simply, it's all about 'race movies' specifically, and how that relates to & impacts Black American Cinema - I'll also get into why I capitalize 'Black' & 'Cinema.'

Essentially, race movies are now known as, contemporary Black American Cinema. And what are 'race movies'? Well, Dorothy...race movies are films that were made primarily by African American filmmakers by, for and about the Black Community from 1910 through 1950. They celebrated our very existence. However, before I continue, the following is in response to a petition currently circulating regarding Bill Cosby...

My response to a petition to remove Bill Cosby's star on the Hollywood Walk of fame:

"It is incomprehensible to me that a person as loathsome as Dr Cosby should be celebrated and honored with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In light of his offensive, disrespectful behavior and treatment of women, his star should nay MUST be removed NOW. If not what kind of message are we sending to our young people? Rape is not a celebration. Rape is a violation, a violent exercise in control and power. This is not what the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is about. Please, do not disrespect the women on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, do NOT disrespect or insult the women who had the courage to come forward and tell their stories of abuse by one William H. Cosby. Do NOT insult women around the globe with the retention of this man's star. Please remove it NOW. Thank You."
